Lance D. Hansen grew up in Northern Wisconsin under harsh conditions that taught him resilience, discipline, and perseverance. Through academic and athletic success, he earned an appointment to the United States Military Academy, where he graduated and was commissioned, after building lifelong bonds forged under pressure. He went on to serve in Desert Shield/Desert Storm.

After leaving uniformed service to care for family needs, Lance continued his career in national defense as part of the Army Civilian Corps, serving at senior levels in two Army laboratories. He later earned a Doctorate from Purdue University and, following Army retirement, joined the Nuclear Security Enterprise to further his service to national security.

Beyond his career, Lance is a lifelong learner and craftsman, enjoying woodworking, farming, beekeeping, welding, and more. He credits his wife of 35 years, Susan, for providing the foundation to raise their three children, whom he considers their proudest achievement.
